A lot of so called search engine optimization companies claim to have your best interests in mind when recommending their own services – even companies that have been around for several years. Unfortunately, many of them do not.
When discussing a search engine optimization campaign, take note whether a company suggests that you direct all, or even most of your advertising budget into it. Any company that suggests this course of action is only interested in filling their pockets and should be avoided at all costs.
Putting your entire marketing budget into search engine optimization is a poor choice because it will take a considerable amount of time to see any result, regardless of the amount of money you put into it, and you will not get the same amount of exposure as you would if you used a proper mix of marketing/advertising channels. Another thing to consider is that the traffic generated by even a well executed search engine optimization campaign will usually be over-estimated.
Think about this – you’ve been talking to a company that only offers only one service and they are doing their best to convince you that all you need is that one service. What do you think is the likelihood that they would recommend additional services if they offered them?
