Once upon a time, in a far away land, commenting on blogs was an effective, but questionable link building technique. In fact it was so effective that people began abusing it, causing most blog platforms to implement the nofollow attribute on all comment links.
There are still a few people out there who aren’t smart enough to realize that it doesn’t work anymore. Since they weren’t blessed with even a modest amount of intellect, they also haven’t figured out how to make their blog comment spam look like anything other than blog comment spam, so the ineffective links that they are working so hard to build never even show up.
Some people would rather spend their time looking for ways to avoid doing any real work, and as a result, they end up having to do 10 times the work for the same results. Go figure.
